Blue J Design Studio is a residential architecture studio focused on creating thoughtful, beautiful homes designed around the people who live in them. We believe good design starts with listening—understanding how you live, what matters to you, and what you want your home to feel like. From custom homes to renovations and additions, our goal is to make the design process feel collaborative, approachable, and maybe even a little fun.
Blue J was founded by Jaclyn Hanson, a registered architect with nearly 18 years of experience and a background rooted in residential design and custom homes. But her perspective on designing homes comes from more than her years practicing architecture. After stepping away from the profession for seven years to raise her kids, Jaclyn returned with a different appreciation for the little things that make a home truly work—the backpacks that need a place to land, the kitchen where everyone gathers, the quiet corner you retreat to, and the everyday routines that rarely make it onto a project wish list.
That combination of architectural experience and real-life perspective shapes the way we approach every Blue J project. We listen first, ask a lot of questions, and help turn your ideas, needs, and sometimes very long wish lists into a home that feels distinctly yours. Because a great home shouldn't just look beautiful—it should work beautifully for the way you actually live. Our goal isn't to bring our vision to your home; it's to listen, collaborate, and help bring your vision to life.
